Adepticon 2013 and the TSA

Here is the reason why you should NEVER check in any of your bags that have miniatures. When you open your bag, fear the dreaded inspection notice! I hopes that the inspectors were being careful:

I found my Malifaux Sorrows out of their foam and crushed against the dividers.

My poor Warmachine Khador War Dog lost his Leg!

And the armless Warmachine Khador Manhunter.

This was my fear when flying with minis and unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you see it), I had so much swag that I had to compromise on space which resulted in one tray being packed in my luggage. Thus, both my checked bags were inspected.

In hindsight, I should have read more on travelling with miniatures as there were a few posted and advice on various forums to include a letter in your luggage which would advise the inspector that the funny looking x-ray shadows were, in fact, miniature metal and plastic figures that we painstakingly hand painted for an convention or event. You can plead your case and hope they take care during their inspection OR you can just take them on the plane with you. Also, if you expect a lot of swag, bring an extra bag to carry the swag home.

LESSON LEARNED TSA! YOU SHALL NEVER MOLEST MY FIGURES AGAIN!
